So do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. . . . . . . . . . . Isaiah 41:10
Kenya will tell you their schools are free, but that is not true. The government has taken over payment of the teacher salaries; however, the children must still provide their own school books, all classroom supplies, a uniform, gym clothes, special shoes, transportation costs to and from school and then pay to take exams 3 times a year. The teachers have decided the government does not pay enough so they hold classes during vacation or school break times and charge extra for each student to attend. If the student cannot attend, they fall behind in their education.
It is not uncommon to find 10 and 11 year old children in 1st grade because they are sent home from school so often for not paying their school fees.
$30.00 a month will guarantee a child can attend school and have at least one cup of food to eat each day.
